Neurodiversity-affirming therapy
I’m so glad you are here!
A safe, steady space to explore what matters to you.
Counselling that honours your neurodivergence, your story, and your pace.
If you’d like to know a little more about me and how I work, here’s a quick introduction.
My name is Amy Russell. At my practice I offer a space grounded in connection, compassion, and curiosity, where your well‑being is supported and your unique strengths are celebrated. My work is shaped by both lived‑experience and professional understanding of neurodiversity and the many ways people think, feel, and move through the world. Together, we’ll explore what thriving looks like for you, in a way that feels safe, affirming, and true to who you are
Counselling sessions are available in-person at a convenient inner Melbourne location in Carlton, as well as via telehealth and telephone.

How we can work together
Exploring neurodivergence (such as Autism and ADHD), including pre‑ and post‑diagnosis support, recognising strengths, improving relationships and self‑esteem, reimagining identity, and building self‑understanding and self‑compassion. Moving from surviving to thriving.
Deepening your understanding of executive functioning, sensory preferences, identity, and the impact of shame — creating space for insight, growth, and self‑acceptance.
Building confidence in setting boundaries, expressing needs, and nurturing safer, more connected relationships.
Managing life changes or significant events, and working through past or present challenges such as grief and loss, anger, communication difficulties, burnout, work challenges, or job loss.
Addressing mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression.
Supporting the processing of traumatic experiences with care for your safety and a pace which is comfortable for you.
Support around experiences of violence or abuse, with a focus on safety, choice, and trauma‑informed care.
Alcohol and substance use support, grounded in a non‑judgmental, harm‑reduction approach.
Practical strategies to support emotional well‑being and encourage self‑compassion.
I’m passionate about supporting neurodiverse individuals in building lives they don’t need to recover from. As a late‑diagnosed neurodivergent woman with eight years of experience working in the community, I understand the complexities of navigating systems, seeking support, and facing everyday barriers. That lived experience shapes everything I do.
You can expect a warm, empathetic, and non‑judgmental space where trust, respect, and understanding are at the heart of our work. I tailor my approach to meet you where you’re at whether you’re exploring identity, working through challenges, or longing to feel more connected to yourself. I’m here to empower you, help make sense of your journey, and support you in moving forward at your pace, in your way.
